Description of Opportunities:

Agape House

Agape Outreach Homes is a non-profit organization which provides housing and care for men with severe persistent mental illness. Agape is a Greek word meaning “unconditional love”, and Agape Outreach Homes exists to extend this love to our clients and community. Our goal is to provide a therapeutic environment, while maintaining a sense of “family” among our residents. We strongly believe in the dignity and courage of those battling mental illness. Agape seeks to offer a place of safety and hope, and illuminate a path to recovery and vitality.

Volunteer Opportunities: Yard work (gardening), painting, spending time with residents to play games and minister

Lost Sheep Ministry

Under the Bridge (UTB) Outreach. Each Wednesday evening, Lost Sheep Ministry reaches approximately 300-450 people under the Interstate Bridge in downtown Knoxville. The number of homeless, along with low/no income individuals are growing rapidly, especially with the present economic situation. This location is chosen because of close proximity to Knoxville’s homeless service organizations, KCDC housing, and homeless neighbors who live outdoors in surrounding areas.

Volunteer Opportunities: Hand out food, clothing and other essentials, interaction with the homeless.

Angelic Ministries

Angelic Ministries is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-denominational ministry providing furniture, clothing, and household items free-of-charge to those in need in Knoxville, surrounding counties, and even to other countries in need.

Volunteer Opportunities: Helping with donations (clothing, linens, furniture, etc.) for families in need

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Knoxville provides a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. The House provides a comfortable, supportive, temporary residence near the medical facility where family members can sleep, eat, relax and find support from other families in similar situations.

Volunteer Opportunities: Landscaping, cleaning, cooking, interaction with families staying at home

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Volunteer Opportunities: Work in the community garden or wherever needed

Adopt-A-Road

Adopt-A-Road organizations agree to pick up litter at least twice a year along a section of road in Knox County. The County provides bags, safety vests, gloves, litter pickers and warning signs. After you arrange a cleanup Knox County Solid Waste will pick up the bags along the roadside. Adopt-A-Road organizations receive signs marking their adopted roadwork area.

Volunteer Opportunities: Cleaning up Papermill Road (all along Papermill including in front of the new building)

Knox County Parks & Recreation

Keeping Knoxville beautiful! We have an opportunity to serve the Knox County Parks & Recreation Department by helping with a bridge project in one of the area parks. What an opportunity to work with the City!

Volunteer Opportunities: Clean up and painting a bridge in Concord Park

Family Promise

The mission of Family Promise is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. We recognize that poverty is a multifaceted problem that requires a multifaceted response. We respond by integrating educational outreach, smart programming, effective policies, and the hands-on work of thousands of volunteers. We provide food, shelter, and support services for homeless families. We provide advice and advocacy for at-risk families to prevent their becoming homeless. And we educate people about poverty and the means to combat it.

Volunteer Opportunities: Painting, landscaping, sorting/cleaning/disinfecting children's toys and other donations.

Feed the Hungry

We are partnering with Word of Life Church in Knoxville to feed the hungry. We will be making 1,000 sandwiches to feed those in need and pray with them. We will need people to assemble the sandwiches immediately after our Sunday morning service, cleanup, deliver the sandwiches, and help give them away. We are very excited about being able to partner with another church for this ministry opportunity.

Volunteer Opportunities: Make sandwiches, distribute food and pray with people

Nurse Appreciation Basket

We will be assembling gift appreciation baskets for nurses around the city. We will send these baskets with some of our own Fuse Church family to show the love of God and our appreciation to all the nurses that they work with.

Volunteer Opportunities: Assemble gift appreciation baskets
